The physical design is pretty poor. The silver "sound bar" along the bottom is way too big (6" high) and, combined with an exceptionally large screen frame (another 1.5" along the bottom), lifts the bottom of the screen over 7" above the top of your desk or whatever other surface you might plan to set this thing on. If you are looking for an actual computer, I recommend you not buy this one until you first find a regular desk top and imagine the screen (and you will have to imagine it; no normal computer is designed this way) lifted up 7" off the desk. It makes for a very awkward viewing angle. To make matters worse, the stand (which is like the back of a picture frame) doesn't offer any adjustment... I would be the first to admit that I am not a computer geek, but this computer seemed to have the most features and performance for the money. And by the way, Amazon had the lowest price! I love how convenient it is thanks to the fact that you only need one power cord because of the(included)cordless mouse, keyboard and built-in speakers and camera. Since I already had wifi, I immediately subscribed to Netflix and I can take this computer into any room in the house and watch a movie on the huge screen. Streaming time is none or minimal! The touch screen feature is nice too. I am still discovering how to best use it. It is very slow downloading games from online sources but from what I've read, that might be solved if I increased the RAM? I have not tried downloading music yet. The picture quality is awesome! The terrible part of this is that only Acer can fix it, and there are *no* local service centers for Acer warranties! You have to ship it to Texas!!! That alone is good enough reason to buy for another vendor. And I'll warn you about these all-in-ones: The components are very hard to access. Local computer stores who regularly work on laptops and desktops may not be able to help you with these. I'll let you know how it goes when I get it back in a week or two. Very frustrating so far. Everything else works well. There is no good kid (toddler) software, so I'll have to look for some to leverage the touch screen. |
